An open letter to #blogjune participants

Dear all

I participated in the #blogjune challenge because I wanted to kickstart a writing habit and bring a long-held but hitherto unfulfilled desire (namely, to write a blog) to fruition.

Although I didn’t manage to post something every day of the month, I achieved what I set out to do, and received so much more out of the experience than I ever would have expected or hoped for.

  • Making connections with some amazing people
  • Learning heaps of new stuff about the library world and beyond
  • Getting great ideas for books to read, music to listen to and concepts to think about
  • Being touched emotionally by personal stories
  • Feeling stoked that people read my posts and expressed their appreciation
  • Sharing the joys and challenges of writing a blog

I thank you all, so very much, for these wonderful things.

From Karen

I’ve really enjoyed your professional posts. It isn’t easy to be brief and meaningful but I think you hit the mark. I’m looking forward to following your blog in the less hectic posture period.

I’m so glad about that, thanks. The best thing has been experiencing the process of taking the extra step to shape floaty vague thoughts into words and sentences.
